Will provera harm an early pregnancy?
Hello Dr. Amy,
It has been 8 weeks since I had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and I still have not had a cycle. My doctor prescribed Provera to take to jump start my cycles. I was wondering if I am pregnant but very early it the drug would harm the fetus?

Dear Tiffany,
There is no evidence that taking Provera in early pregnancy is harmful. You don't have to take Provera, though, unless you want to do so. Your periods will probably return on their own within a few weeks.
