Pain medication in pregnancy

Dr Amy,

I' m having terrible headaches and I am consistently nauseous. Is it ok for me to take aspirin to relieve the headaches, Or could you recommend something please?

Dear Nosipho,

If you are having terrible headaches, you should talk it over with your doctor as soon as possible to make sure that you are not having a problem with your blood pressure.

You should not take aspirin in pregnancy. Tylenol (acetominophen, paracetamol) is considered the best pain medication for use in pregnancy.
