No period after stopping DepoProvera

I have a daughter who is almost 9 months, and I haven't had one period since she was born. I breast fed her constantly, then I stopped about 4-5 months later. I use Depo as a birthcontrol and was suppose to get my next shot in Sept. I am sexually active and haven't gotten a preiod and don't know if I am pregnant. I don't have money to get a test at the store and too shy to go to the clinic here. Is there a slim chance I am pregnant? Is there another way I can find out that I am pregnant. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Natasha

Dear Natasha,

It can take months for your period to return after stopping DepoProvera, so that could be the reason that you have not had a period. However, there is also a possibility that you are pregnant. There's really no way to find out except to take a pregnancy test.

Sincerely,
Amy
