Feta cheese in pregnancy


I am 8 weeks pregnant and love Greek food. Can I continue to eat feta cheese and tarasomalarter (contains fish roe)?

Pregnant women are advised to avoid soft and semi-soft cheeses made from unpasteurized milk. Cheese made in the United States must be made from pasteurized milk, but imported cheeses are not under the same requirement. Therefore, you should avoid feta, brie, camembert and other cheeses made from unpasteurized milk.

Unpasteurized milk can carry listeria. Listeria usually causes only a minor illness, but in pregnant women it is more serious and can cause a miscarriage or late pregnancy loss.

I could find no research that indicated any problems with fish roe.
