Do it yourself morning after pill?

I'm 20 years old, and I've been on Seasonale bc pills for almost two years now. I'd just gotten out of a 3 year committed relationship, and in an attempt to save money went off the pill for a full month as I didn't expect to be having regular intercourse. Alas, I had unprotected sex exactly 2 weeks after my last period started. (Not smart, I know).

The day after, my brain kicked in and I filled the Seasonale prescription. I took 3 pills the first day and have been taking it ever since. This was one week ago today. One more week until a test will be accurate.

By taking those three pills did I reduce the odds of pregnancy? Is my fertility at all reduced after only 1 month off Seasonale after years of use?

Dear College Student,

The appropriate method to prevent pregnancy after unplanned intercourse is to use the morning after pill. Taking 3 Seasonale pills is not equivalent. It might reduce the chance of pregnancy, but the chance of pregnancy would still be significant, so be sure to check a pregnancy test next week.
