Strep in vagina

I have hemolytic vaginal streptococci and am on my third course of penicillin in order to cure it. Can this have an impact on fertility?

Dear Rose,

Strep bacteria in the vagina is usually not treated unless it is diagnosed during pregnancy. That's because it is harmless to the mother, but can cause serious illness in a newborn if the baby catches it during delivery. Antibiotics are used to treat the bacteria during pregnancy and again at the time of delivery.
