Group B strep and fertility

My daughter-in-law has just found out that she was treated for strep b a year ago. Could you please let us know if carrying this virus would stop her concieving. Many thanks for your time.

Dear Pam,

Group B strep is a bacteria and when it is in the vagina at the time of birth can cause illness in a newborn baby. That's why women who carry group B strep in the vagina are treated with antibiotics. It has no effect on fertility.
